100 representatives of courts and Court Security Service have learned to provide premedical first aid
8 one-day trainings for 100 representatives of Court Security Service and model courts were conducted by certified trainers of All-Ukrainian public organization "All-Ukrainian Resuscitation Council" with the support of EU Project Pravo-Justice.
"I consider it extremely positive that all trainings were conducted with due regard to current challenges caused by COVID pandemic. It is important that the trainers paid a lot of attention to very important details when providing premedical first aid. I am confident that the acquired skills will strengthen the security of courts in general and of visitors and court staff in particular and will be useful for saving lives," said Oleh Maksymchuk, national expert of EU Project Pravo-Justice.
Participants noted that the training was useful and interesting because everything was as practical as possible. So, they not only obtained answers and information about premedical first aid, but also tested their understanding of the theory in practice – on mannequins. In course of the training, trainers answered some specific questions that may arise when providing premedical first aid. For example, whether it is possible to install an automatic defibrillator for a person with a pacemaker or whether it is safe to use a defibrillator outdoors in the rain.
In general, in course of the training day, the participants practiced skills of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and using an automatic defibrillator, operating procedures in case of strangulation and drowning, transfer of the victim to a safe position.
"Every day our court is visited by many people – court employees, visitors, those participating in trial. We understand that various critical and life-threatening situations can occur, and it is important to know how to respond to save lives. When the institution has judges, members of court staff who have been trained to provide premedical first aid, it enhances the security not only of court visitors and participants in the trial, but also the employees themselves and the security of the institution as a whole. Therefore, we express our sincere gratitude to EU Project "Pravo-Justice" for the opportunity to take premedical first aid course, for the high level of training conducted, and we are grateful to coaches Anatolii Kaleniuk and Yurii Denysiuk for professional and expert teaching," says Oksana Meliukh, Chief of Staff, Kovel City District Court of Volyn region.
In total, 100 people did training on premedical first aid. All of them are employees of the Court Security Service or judges and staff of model courts (Kramatorsk City Court of Donetsk Region, Kovel City District Court of Volyn Region, Lozova City District Court of Kharkiv Region, Vyshhorod District Court of Kyiv Region, Halych District Court of Lviv, Korolov District Court).
The outcome of the training was the fact that participants obtained international standard certificates of qualification level "Basic Life Support" from European Resuscitation Council.
