Training for HR Staff of the State Institution ‘Probation Centre’ in the Framework of HR School Completed
In September-October, at the initiative and with the expert support of EU Project Pravo-Justice, training for HR staff working in the headquarters and regional offices of the State Institution ‘Probation Centre’ was conducted within the framework of HR School. After the final test on 25 October, 24 ‘graduates’ received certificates of completion.
‘In 2023, the HR strategy was adopted. It envisages the step-by-step implementation of new approaches to HR management at the State Institution ‘Probation Centre’. To implement it, the Project organised comprehensive training for HR staff for the first time. National expert Serhii Synohub and international expert David designed the training course. We hope the knowledge the HR School ‘students’ have gained will help them enhance their efficiency in working with current probation staff, increase their motivation and positively impact the selection of new staff,’ said Olena Kochura, Key National Expert on Penitentiary Reform Support of EU Project Pravo-Justice.
The training provided during the HR School consisted of 4 modules focused on improving the skills and capacity of HR professionals regarding staff recruitment, motivation, corporate culture and ‘healthy’ dismissal.
‘HR School is a natural step forward in the cooperation between EU Project Pravo-Justice and the State Institution ‘Probation Centre’ towards improving its HR policies and procedures. Implementing high-quality HR projects necessitates motivated and trained human resource management professionals ready to do result-oriented work,’ said Serhii Synohub, national expert of EU Project Pravo-Justice.
He also noted that the School lecturers were impressed by the coursework the participants submitted between modules.
‘Almost all of these exercises can be viewed as an HR project ready to be implemented in Probation daily work,’ added Serhii Synohub.
David Knott, international expert of EU Project Pravo-Justice, said that the HR School attendees had the opportunity to learn about the best European practices in recruitment. Special emphasis was placed on exploring British HR practices.
‘Coaching is becoming more and more popular in the UK. It aims to unlock the potential of each employee, encourage them to make independent decisions, solve problems, and generate ideas for improving the institution’s operations,’ said David Knott.
Viktoriia Kliuch, Head of the Human Resources Department of the State Institution ‘Probation Centre’, thanked the experts of EU Project ‘Pravo-Justice’ for organising the HR School.
‘Professional development of staff is one of the crucial prerequisites for progress of the Ukrainian probation system. For two months, HR staff from all our regional offices have been improving their professional qualifications and skills, which has helped them become more efficient. I am extremely grateful for such a great opportunity for self-development because gaining new knowledge means opening new horizons,’ summed up Viktoriia Kliuch.
